Sponsor
To apply for a family green card, the relative who will sponsor the application must file a petition with the USCIS. The application process involves a series of requirements, such as proof of sufficient income to support the family member.
Immediate relatives
Immediate relatives of American citizens are:
Father, Mother, Spouse, Unmarried children under the age of 21.
Orphans adopted abroad or in the United States.
Family preference
Second preference (F2) - spouses (same or opposite sex), minor children, unmarried children (aged 21 or over) of permanent residents.
Third preference (F3) - married children, their spouses and their minor children.
Fourth preference (F4) - siblings, their spouses and minor children. Half-brothers and half-sisters, as well as adopted siblings are also eligible in this category.

How does the green card process work?
1. Petição inicial (Formulário I-130):
